Did someone say shelfie? A while back, I shared these shelf storage solutions that we recently made for a client. It has made such a huge difference in my client’s home and I couldn’t be happier for her.
The idea was to build floating shelves where she would be able to place memorabilia items, pictures of loved ones as well as a few kitchen storage jars.
We were able to salvage old pieces of wood that were not in use but were in storage. This is actually a great idea if you are thinking of building shelf storage solutions on a budget. It will save you a lot. The only items we had to purchase were the metal brackets and drilling nails.
Shelf Storage Solutions: Inspiration
The idea was to build butcher block thick, long floating shelves that are 16 or 17 inches apart. It’s safe to say this inspirational picture from The Woodgrain Cottage came in handy.
This was when we begun stocking up the shelves. Staging is always my favorite part in Interior Styling. This is because I get to play around with items until I come up with something suitable and pleasing to the eye.
If you are keen enough to zoom in, you’ll spot me somewhere in one of the pictures. This project was very dear to me, as this was a request from my Mum to build her something beautiful to look at every single day.
Some of the cook books on display are the same age as me – my Mum does a good job in storing items she regards as memorabilia.
I decided to add my wine cork collection as a space filler on the shelf. I love that it actually doesn’t look out of place.
There you have it folks. A simple shelf storage solutions that serves my Mum both functionally and aesthetically. I couldn’t be happier and what a wonderful client she was and remains.
